And Katie. :) Sounds like we could've been friends through it all! If only, right? I really wish you lived closer. It's always the people I desperately want to be close friends with who are light years away! Also, thanks for the honesty in your last paragraph there. I don't always have the courage to speak boldly for Him, but I have definitely been stripped of my desire to be liked ... I guess that comes from a lifetime of being an outcast or being disliked by SOMEONE all the time. You can either go two ways at that point ... even deeper into needing the world's approval or closer to Christ. When I tried the former and didn't feel better or succeed ... I realized the latter is what I should've been doing all along! Love you, girl! A lot.

Oh dear friend, you described me in high school. I partied. I got high. I had sex much too young. All I cared about was "having fun". I'd love to say that when I gave my life to Jesus my freshman year of college, I never did those things again (well, of course I have sex with my husband...but premarital sex)...only I can't say that. My journey with God started off as a roller coaster. It's only been this past year and a half that God has really shown me the beauty of obedience. The idea that submission and obedience bring such a deeper sense of love than reliance on pure emotions.

Thanks for this inspirational post. I wish I had the courage to step out more and speak boldly for Christ. I wish I didn't care so much about being liked by this world.
