Ashley - I Love this post! I had a short, intense labor. I got to the hospital at 5:00 pm and was at 4.5 cm. I had Brogan at 8:23 pm. I didn't get an epidural, but I did get a drug through an IV. I'm definitely going to try natural this next time around. Oh, but goodness gracious, the pain is intense, isn't it?

I am 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and am planning a natural birth. Though I am giving birth in the hospital (helps hubby's nerves SOME) I plan on saying no to drugs. I don't want anything unnatural in my baby's system. Thanks for your birth stories!

Christin - is this your first birth? first one's are always longer, but you can do it naturally! :) if it's not your first ... you can definitely do it ... subsequent births are MUCH quicker most of the time.

Autumn - 12 weeks. so cute! almost time for sleeping through the night? i know some do at 12 weeks. can't wait to hear about your NEXT birth story ... whenever it may be! :)

Sasha - i think subsequent births actually hurt worse when you push because there is less time between the start of labor and pushing. i know moms who have done both naturally and said the first was easier to push because there had been so much pressure there for so long. with the second everything happens so fast. yikes ... i gotta do this again soon! :) WOOOOO! crazy!

I had similar experiences, first birth was kind of a whammy where I was given an epidural that sorta went wrong where I felt immense pain anyway...second time I opted to go natural; luckily there's a hospital right near me that embraces midwives and waterbirths--I saw my midwife on TLCs a Baby Story before I met her heh--so that's what I did. And I agree! I'd do it again in a second!! It was maybe a bad hour and a half total [including final contractions and pushing] and after he came out, I stood up, and felt GREAT!!! so unlike the first time...granted it was the first time also that my body had to go through that, so it may be a combination of factors. But what an experience. Not painless, but I think formative and cleansing in a way.

I have a twelve week old :) I had planned to have a birth center drug free birth but my baby came face first (my birth story is on my blog). I am so looking forward to my next babies birth (only God knows when!) and plan to have a natural birth center birth. When are we going to see some pictures of your bump! Thank you for sharing!

I'm pregnant...still in my first trimester but have been thinking a lot about how I want to birth this next time around. I would like to avoid the pitocin and epidural and maybe use a tub at the hospital they have in the birthing rooms. We shall see! :)
