What Does Your Blog Promote?

I admire two writer's of today. Not because of their beautiful prose and thought provoking stories (which I love), but because of their hearts and the blogs they write. They promote Jesus Christ with their blogs, not themselves. Their blogs are bold and honest, transparent and humble, and they convict me.

Their words point out my weaknesses in subtle and sometimes bold ways, making me realize how much I need Christ -- how much they need Christ. Their words are filled with truth, scripture, and a call toward godliness.

Randy Alcorn's blog is always convicting, inspiring, and bold. Through his words he leads us toward a godly life. A set-apart life. He stands his ground, next to Christ, and doesn't waver when people disagree. He writes about important topics. Topics we should care and think of more.

Mary E. DeMuth's blog is always honest, inspiring, and redemptive. Through her words she invites us to learn and grow as Christian's. She takes your hand, like a sister, and through her love for Jesus she makes you want to love Him more.

Both of these blogs promote Jesus Christ. They promote God, not the person writing the blog. They convict me. Inspire me. Point out my weaknesses through their transparancy or boldness and bring me to my knees. They help me remember that He is all I need.

That is a beautiful blog. If someone's words are pointing people toward a greater need for Christ, AMEN!

What about your blog? What about mine? What about our lives?

Are we promoting ourselves or are we promoting Christ?

Know of any other blogs that promote Christ? What are your favorite blogs? Let me know!

Great post! Great questions! I love Randy Alcorn's blog too. For Mother's Day my eight year old daughter got me "Heaven." How cool is that - I posted about it a little at my reading room blog. On my reading room blog I promote Christian authors mostly and books that I've enjoyed. Most of the time the books that I've enjoyed are books promoting Jesus and I so want to promote Jesus!

Hmm. Mine?

At least that has been my goal in blogging, but I don't always have any new deep, theological insights to share. I should probably put more effort in trying to do an entry at least weekly.

You know,

I'm usually encouraged on YOUR blog! I find that you are SO sincere and have such a warm heart. I honestly was a bit sad when you were taking a little break from writing- I look forward to reading your post. You have a heart for Jesus and are a phenomenal writer! Keep up the awesome work for the Lord Ashley!

God Bless,
Kennisha

Thank you for your comment! I think you have a beautiful family as well. I am having a boy, yay! My dream was to have one of each. I have enjoyed reading some entries on your blog. I notice you are a writer. I dabble in it myself, not anything professional by any means, just poems and short stories when the spirit leads. haha Today I hope to have some time to look over your other blog for writers. God bless you in your pregnancy!

I also love Ann Voskamp's for her simple thoughts about God, and her beautiful photographs. She is a farmer's wife in Canada, homeschooling 6 children.
